The Football Association of Wales is delighted to announce a partnership with Welsh floodlighting company, Floodlighting and Electrical Services Ltd.

Partnering with the LED lighting experts, who are currently the UK's only approved installer of SmartGEDi technology, will enable the FAW to hit some of the goals set out in the organisation's sustainability strategy.

The groundbreaking technology enables football clubs to save energy by installing lighting with sensor detection, lux level controls and the ability to complement natural light, reducing energy consumption and bills in the process. It excels at ensuring only the energy needed is used.

FAW sustainability advisor Sophie Howe said: "Cymru aims to be a world leader on and off the pitch. The sustainability strategy provides a clear plan of action for the FAW to develop stronger clubs, leagues and initiatives across seven focus areas; team, health, structures, facilities, partnerships and decarbonisation.

FAW Head of Public Affairs Helen Antoniazzi said: “Together Stronger is our mantra at the FAW, and this applies to our sustainability strategy too. We know that we need to work in partnership to achieve our sustainability goals, and this collaboration with Floodlighting & Electrical Services Ltd and SmartGEDi is a brilliant example of that. Reducing energy usage and waste across the football family is a key element of the work we are doing to minimise our carbon footprint and this groundbreaking technology from SmartGEDi will play a vital role in helping us to do that.”

“This exciting partnership enables the organisation to move towards those goals."

Floodlighting and Electrical Managing Director Gareth Thomas said: "We are committed to supporting football clubs throughout Wales in achieving their sustainability objectives. We understand the financial burden associated with running a football club especially when it comes to operating floodlights. However, with our cutting-edge LED floodlights and SmartGEDi technology, we aim to make floodlights not only cost-effective but energy-efficient."
