Tennis Wales, the National Governing Body for tennis in Wales has welcomed Floodlighting & Electrical as the official floodlighting partner for the organisation for 2020/21.
With 1,200 tennis courts across Wales, the partnership aims to increase the number of floodlit tennis facilities in Wales and the number of hour’s tennis courts can be used throughout the year.
Tennis Wales recorded increased participation during 2020, with over 130,000 adults playing tennis at least once, primarily in the summer months where tennis courts are locally available. A key part of the organisation’s strategy tennis opened up across Wales is to increase participation throughout the year, and retain more participants in the sport.
Simon Johnson, CEO of Tennis Wales commented:
“We’re delighted to welcome Floodlighting & Electrical as our official partner. Together, we want to create a network of accessible tennis facilities across Wales that can be enjoyed throughout the year. This year we’ve seen thousands of people playing tennis in the summer months, but this declines significantly in the winter as we lack the year round facilities. This partnership will also support our tennis venues to modernise their existing floodlight technology, ensuring we’re both energy & economically efficient when playing”.
Gareth Roberts, Managing Director at Floodlighting and Electrical, said:
This partnership is another positive sign of Floodlighting and Electricals’ continued commitment to sport in Wales, from elite levels, right through to the grass roots of the game. Our priority is to develop relationships at all levels of tennis, supporting Tennis Wales with their core objectives and delivery of the “tennis opened up across Wales” strategy.
